Head of Technology

About this role.

DIGI2AL is seeking an experienced Head of Technology to lead the technical direction of a multi-year client delivery programme delivering critical solutions to thousands of uniformed personnel and crown servants. This role is pivotal in defining technical strategy, ensuring governance, and embedding best practices in agile digital delivery. The Head of Technology will oversee the implementation of modern software engineering, data, and security capabilities, ensuring compliance with MoD security standards while enabling efficient, scalable, and sustainable technology solutions.

  • Strategic technical leadership in complex, high-security environments.
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture and cloud-native software development.
  • Knowledge of relevant SaaS platforms (Palantir Foundry, Microsoft Power Platform) and modern development ecosystems (Python, TypeScript, React, and database technologies).
  • Understanding of DevSecOps, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and modern software engineering principles.
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Tekton).
  • Ability to implement and govern secure, scalable digital services aligned with defence and government regulations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience influencing senior leaders and external technology partners.
  • Proven ability to embed technical governance, manage technical risk, and ensure compliance with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Passion for fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.

  • Leading technical strategy and governance in large-scale, multi-team digital programmes.
  • Delivering technology solutions within the defence, public sector, or similarly complex regulatory environments.
  • Driving the adoption of modern software development practices, including agile methodologies and DevSecOps principles.
  • Managing technical risk and ensuring compliance with security, quality, and performance standards.
  • Leading teams in a cloud-native environment, ensuring best practices in software engineering, security, and system maintainability.
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders across government and defence to align technology initiatives with broader organisational goals.
  • Managing technical change in complex digital ecosystems while balancing innovation with stability and risk management.
